CHAOSS Has Badged 100 Events!

We have officially badged 100 events as part of our DEI Event Badging initiative! We want to send a huge thank you to all those who have submitted applications and of course to our wonderful team of Badgers! Together we have helped 100 events center DEI and create more inclusive spaces for attendees and speakers! We keep a running list on the Event Badging repository, if you’re curious about who has achieved a badge thus far.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Change to Metrics Models Working Group Time

The Metrics Models Working Group decided to change the time of their meeting to 7:30 am US Central/Chicago Time, every other Tuesday. As always, you can join the working group meetings on the CHAOSS zoom link, and subscribe to the [CHAOSS calendar][3] so you are always up to speed on when meetings are happening.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

New Metric Model: Starter Project Health

The Metrics Models Working Group released a new metric model: Starter Project Health. This Metrics Model is aimed to be a good place for an open source project to start, when taking a high level look at their project. There are four metrics in the model:

[Time to First Response][4] Determine the amount of time between when an activity was opened (e.g. Issue or Change Request) and when it received the first response from a human.
[Time to Close][5] Determine the amount of time between when an activity (e.g. Issue or Change Request) was created and when it was closed.
[Bus Factor][6] Determine the smallest number of people that make 50% of contributions
[Release Frequency][6] Determine the frequency of project releases (including point releases with bug fixes)

We have a confirmed date for CHAOSScon NA 2023! Hooray!

We will be hosting a session in the afternoon of May 9, 2023 in conjunction with Open Source Summit North America in Vancouver BC, Canada.

Next Onboarding Session for New Chaotics

The CHAOSS community continues to grow! To make the onboarding process a little easier, Elizabeth Barron (CHAOSS Community Manager) and Ruth Ikegah (CHAOSS Africa Community Lead) will be hosting the next Onboarding Session on March 1, 2023 at 11:00 am US Central/Chicago time**.** We know this time is not convenient for everyone, but this is just a start and we will add and iterate as we go.
