2021-03 Metrics Release Shipped, Hooray!
The latest version of our metrics (2021-03) has been released! With this release, the CHAOSS community developed 11 new metrics and revised 5 existing metrics, bringing our total to 57 developed metrics. Wow!
This was one of our most productive releases yet, even in spite of all that the last 6 months threw at us. Fantastic job everyone! And special thanks to Georg Link and Kevin Lumbard who make the release official, and create this wonderful PDF summing up all our metrics and their histories: https://chaoss.github.io/website/release/release-pdfs/CHAOSS-Metrics-Release-2021-03.pdf.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
GSoC Update
Since we’ve been fielding some questions about the Google Summer of Code process, here’s a quick update for those who are interested. Google will announce the accepted projects this week, so until then, we are just waiting to hear if we’ve been accepted. We do have a list of ideas that we submitted, and you can find that list here: https://github.com/chaoss/governance/blob/master/GSoC-Ideas.md.
Anyone interested in being a part of the CHAOSS community (whether or not you are taking part in the GSOC project) is encouraged to participate in any way that makes the most sense for them. A comprehensive list of ways to engage with our community can be found here: <{{ baseURL }}participate/>. Thanks![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Request for Social Interaction Stories for Upcoming Podcast
A valued member of our CHAOSS community, Venia Logan, is seeking your stories about less than ideal community situations for an upcoming podcast. Venia writes:****
What are some stories of times where a community conversation threw you for a loop interpersonally? You thought things were going really well and then something happened? Darrick Hildman a professor at CSU in communication and interpersonal working groups will be going over some of these situations. Submit your story to samantha@sociallyconstructed.online. I can be 100% anonymous. Just let us know!

Next CHAOSS Software (Augur) Hackathon March 13
We will be hosting another hackathon in our series of virtual events bringing software and metrics closer together. The theme of this hackathon is to take time to develop ways of collecting some of our metrics that are not readily available in Augur or Grimoire Lab yet. It may be bringing some of our more mature metrics together in a new way to answer new questions, or it may be developing a way to collect one of our metrics that is in development. Registration will be open tomorrow, so keep an eye on our Twitter for the link.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
